Thought I had forgotten about this blog but suddenly google has put me in their search and sent a number of visitors. I had an email from Mr Conroe asking me to give him some information as he is thinking of moving here.
Well personally I have never stayed in colonades condominium although I have a few friends who did or used to. I was once interested too in buying a unit but never got to do it. The space is big so that is one plus point.
But from my last post, it seems quite a few readers have bad experiences. Read for yourself
I would think there are many problems of leakage due the the buildings being old and poorly constructed. Then there's cracking and falling concrete. I'm more interested in this as my inquiries show that what is happening here is similar to what happened in the Hospital Queen just across the road..
How To Ensure Safety?
Who is there to look after the safety of occupants of buildings? No one can tell me who and it's a big shame. How do we know the management is not hiding something? It has happened before and people have lost lives. (like in Korea)
To avoid any bad incidents, we should lobby for some safety standards in old buildings. The engineers and architects association should lobby for this.
So the question you should first ask is , Is Colonnades condo safe to live in? Anybody with ideas? engineer?

Poor Condition in Some Old Condominiums in Kota Kinabalu
From what I notice, there are some old buildings in Kota Kinabalu that were built some 20 years ago and the condition is really worrying. Apparently, the contractors used sea sand to contruct the building and because of it, there is a lot of cracks and blistering on the walls and ceiling due to the rusting of the steel inside the concrete.
I didn't know how serious it was until I talked to an engineer friend who had helped to access the condition of the Hospital Queen tower block which was subsequently declared unsafe. I have seen the same problem in many buildings in KK including a few of the shophouses in Gaya Street.
The point is what is the local authority doing to ensure safety of occupants of such buildings?

Jesselton Condominiums - Is it worth it?
Jesselton Condomium
This looks like an impressive condomium but the prices are quite steep compared to others in the same area. In fact, I'm very attracted to buy a unit here.
Anyone who is staying here?

Condomiums in Sabah
After staying overseas for 6 years, I decided to go back to Sabah. So the first thing I had to do is to look for my housing. I wanted to look for a condominium unit and therein I started looking around at the many condominium units available. Unlike in other cities, it's very hard to get information and most of the time, it's only based on what the broker says.
So I hope that everyone who has experiences with any particular will share their experience good or bad. Tell us what you like staying in any condo unit and if you have any bad experience share with us too.
